What is the Ashtavakra Gita?

हिन्दी

The Aṣṭāvakra Gītā, also known as the Aṣṭāvakra Saṃhitā, is a Sanskrit philosophical dialogue chiefly between sage Aṣṭāvakra and King Janaka. Its central concerns include the nature of the Self, awareness, attachment, freedom and non-dual knowledge. The work is especially influential among readers of Advaita-oriented literature because it often addresses liberation through direct insight into the Self rather than through elaborate descriptions of ritual duty.

Common editions arrange it in 20 chapters, but textual details should be checked against a named witness; traditional ascription does not by itself establish a secure historical author or date. ShivGoraksh's earlier SARIT Aṣṭāvakragītā 1.1–1.8 sample is a restricted engineering fixture, not a rights-cleared production Sanskrit source. An explanatory FAQ can introduce the text without republishing that restricted excerpt.
