A stotra is a devotional hymn or composition praising a deity, revered figure or spiritual ideal. Stotras may be in Sanskrit or regional languages and range from brief verses to longer structured works. They often describe divine attributes, narratives and devotional responses, combining poetry with theology. Examples include hymns addressed to Shiva, Vishnu or the Goddess.
A stotra is not automatically a single fixed version: texts circulate in different manuscripts, editions and regional recitation forms. A work's traditional author attribution also need not establish a modern historical date or verifiable authorship. Readers should distinguish the stotra's actual wording, an attributed author, later explanation and the recitation customs surrounding it. ShivGoraksh should publish a full hymn only after locating and verifying its particular source text and reuse rights.
